Ordering Textbooks

Textbooks for the 2026-27 academic year will soon be available for purchase. Go to this link to access our online bookstore: KCD Online Bookstore with MBS. You can also go to www.mbsdirect.net and enter Kentucky Country Day School as the school name. Parents of students in grades 5–12 will receive an email from Amy Mendel, Assistant Head of School, in late June announcing the bookstore launch and outlining the ordering process. Please review this information carefully before ordering your books.

Laptops

All 9th-grade and new-to-KCD students have had a MacBook Air ordered for them. These will be distributed in early August.

Upper School PE Attire

Due to small class sizes in the Upper School Physical Education classes, students in grades 9-12 are permitted to use the locker rooms in order to quickly change before reporting to class. Students should dress in athletic attire for Physical Education classes. Athletic attire is defined as a short-sleeve or long-sleeve shirt, shorts that meet Upper School dress code requirements, workout pants, training pants, or sweatpants, and athletic footwear. Attire not permitted includes sports bras, tank tops, flip flops, sandals, shoes with heels, and/or boots.

Fall Athletics

The Bearcat Upper School athletic program offers 14 sports across three seasons. Our athletes compete on some of the best athletic facilities in the state—with most of them right here on our 80+ acre campus. Our program has produced both team and individual state champions, and our teams compete against some of the biggest schools in the region.

TRYOUTS
Tryouts for fall sports can start after July 15. Some teams will also have summer workouts before official tryouts. Exact start dates depend on the team, but typically fall sports begin their seasons around July 15.

PRACTICES
Practices for most Upper School sports are right after school. They can range anywhere from 4-6 pm (or possibly later, such as 5-7 pm or 6-8 pm), depending on the sport and coaches’ availability. Please note that some teams have summer workouts. Contact the head coach for the summer schedule.

DEAD PERIOD
Dead Period is always June 25-July 9. No athletic practices or contact can be made from a coach to the player, and players are NOT allowed on campus to train.
