Early dismissal for JK/K

Again this year for JK and K students only there is an 11:45 am dismissal on Thursday, August 15, and Friday, August 16 (lunch will be served). The reason we have an early dismissal for JK and K students the first two days of school is to ease the children into the full, busy day of school. Students will be dismissed through the carpool line.

Those JK students who leave early on Mondays and Fridays will be dismissed at 10:50 starting Friday, August 16.

Bearcat Den will be offered for JK/K students on these first two days only until 3:00 pm. Pre-registration is required. Email judy.ambach@kcd.org if you would like your child to attend Bearcat Den until 3:00 pm following the early dismissal.
Dear Lower School Families,

Welcome to the Kentucky Country Day School Lower School community! We are looking forward to a great year ahead with you and your child at the beginning of an educational journey at KCD. Even though the start of school seems far away, we hope to keep you involved with all that is happening on our campus.

Throughout the summer and the school year, we ask that you check our school’s website for schoolwide information. This Back to School section of our site offers a wealth of information such as summer reading lists, math activities, and required medical information for the 2019–2020 school year.

New families can use the account created during the application process to access the My KCD parent portal. Click the My KCD link at the top of our website to log in. The login page has a link you can use to retrieve your password if necessary. If you need additional help, please contact Jason Sedlaczek at jason.sedlaczek@kcd.org.

You will also be receiving an email with information regarding our online medical database (Magnus Health SMR). All medical information will be submitted using this database. If a Kentucky Immunization Certificate and physical exam form are not on file by the first day of school, August 15, the school reserves the right to refuse attendance. See the Magnus page in this section for more information

Later in the summer you will receive an official welcome letter with general school opening information, your child’s class placement, and information on our Lower School Meet the Teacher on Wednesday, August 14. On Thursday, August 8, we will have a New Parent Orientation for families new to KCD (this event is for adults). This important meeting will provide necessary information to start the school year successfully. More information will be sent later in the summer. On Tuesday, August 27, we will have our Lower School Parent Night. This adult-only evening is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, visit the classroom, and learn about the overall curriculum.

If you have any questions, please email or call the office at 814-4324. We look forward to seeing you soon. Please keep checking the school website, your email, and your home postal mailbox throughout the summer for more information about the upcoming school year. Thank you and enjoy your summer!

Sincerely,

Amy Torok Mendel, Lower School Director
