Bearcat Den provides a high-quality after-school program where your lower school child can play with friends, do their homework, and stay active in a safe, well-supervised environment. Children in grades JK–4 participate in a variety of activities, including activity/board game centers, arts & crafts, sports, and outside play time. Bearcat Den hours are Monday–Friday from the close of school until 6:00 pm.

Pre-registration is required for days Bearcat Den is offered when school is dismissed early. For safety reasons, Bearcat Den is closed when KCD is closed or dismisses early because of inclement weather.

KCD’s After School Classes incorporate independent learning, academics, and enrichment activities. These programs emphasize opportunities for empowerment and skill building, development of good character and positive social skills, and integration of family, school and community supports—all in an environment supervised by caring adults. Registration deadline is two weeks prior to the start of the session.

After school course information will be sent home to parents after school begins in August.

The Intramural Athletics program provides young children with an introduction to a variety of sports within KCD’s comfortable, supportive, and convenient environment. All players are welcome, regardless of ability. We emphasize the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect while promoting self-confidence, physical fitness, and Bearcat pride. We teach the value of healthy competition and that both winning and losing are vital to the development of good sportsmanship. We want every player to have fun because fun is an essential part of learning.

Homework Club is available for students in grades second through fourth. It is held Monday-Thursday from 3–4:00. Homework Club provides a quiet, teacher-supervised environment for your child to complete homework assignments right after school, four days per week. KCD lower school teachers supervise Homework Club to ensure that all students work on their assignments and put completed work in the appropriate place to return it back to school the next day. While teachers will assist students with basic questions, Homework Club is not an individualized tutor or instructional time. Sign-up is done on a monthly basis.

Dismissal will be through the lower school carpool line at 4:00.

Note: Bearcat Singers (grades 1–2) is on Mondays. Choral Theatre Players (grades 3–4) is on Thursdays. Please do not sign up for Homework Club on these days if your child wants to join these groups.

Please carefully plan and schedule before you sign up. There will be no refunds for missed days.

Middle School

The KCD Middle School Extended Day Program provides a safe and structured environment for students who remain in the academic building beyond the hours of the normal school day. Extended Day offerings are available Monday–Friday to all middle school students, including those already enrolled in after school sports, clubs, or the Fine Arts Academy.
