Varsity Assistant Cross Country Coach

Kentucky Country Day School (KCD), a JK–12 independent school in Louisville, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Varsity Assistant Cross Country Coach to join our athletic department. The assistant coach will work closely with the Head Coach to support all aspects of the cross country program and help develop student-athletes in a positive, competitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions
• Support athletes in developing endurance, technique, and race strategy
• Help supervise athletes at practices, meets, and team events
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive team culture
• Assist with meet logistics, travel, and communication with athletes and families
• Support the academic and character development of student-athletes
• Represent KCD athletics in a professional and positive manner

Qualifications

• Previous cross country and/or track experience preferred (coaching or competing)
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to motivate and mentor high school student-athletes
• Availability for afternoon practices and meets during the fall season
• Commitment to the mission and values of Kentucky Country Day School

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of distance training principles and injury prevention
