Students get hands on with colorful chemistry

Sixth grade students in Annie Jessee’s science class started their unit on chemistry with a look at how temperature affects the rate of reactions.Students used ice water and cold water as variables and added a drop of food coloring to highlight the reaction. In a second trial, students added a drop of rubbing alcohol after the food coloring, creating a big initial splash of color. Students enjoyed collaborating with their classmates in this fun and colorful experiment.
