On October 11, the varsity boys soccer team achieved a historic win with a 4-3 defeat over Ballard for the district title. Ballard was ranked #3 in the state. The Bearcats saved their best soccer for the district tournament, avenging regular season losses to Eastern and Ballard to claim the title.
This is the third district championship in KCD soccer history. Their last one came in 2015 with a 4-0 win over Christian Academy of Louisville. Coach Charlie Traughber was proud of the team effort the Bearcats displayed in the tournament.
“It was a great effort by the team in the district championship game, and I could not be more proud of the kids. We have played the hardest schedule in KCD history and while competitive with teams, we have been looking for that signature win. Beating #3 Ballard in the championship game was that signature win. Over the season the team has improved and the kids put it all together in that game. It was a great win for the team and for the KCD program.”
