For the second year in a row, KCD’s Vex Robotics team (the Gearcats) has qualified for the Vex Robotics Kentucky High School State Tournament. Although the tournament was canceled last year, the Gearcats proved resilient and worked hard to put two of KCD's three competitive teams through to the state tournament this year.
Team captains Ayaan Jabbar, Logan Purkiss, and Tala Saad led their respective teams in innovative designs, strategic driving, and autonomous programming. Ayaan displayed great leadership this season through his tireless efforts in getting the robotics program started and serving as both a manager and mentor to all three teams. This year’s tournament will take place on April 17 at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville. Congratulations to the following Gearcats for their accomplishment:
