Sixth grader studies book set in Pakistan, from Pakistan
This year, sixth grade English teacher DeeAnna Payne added a new book to her class curriculum. Amal Unbound, by Aisha Saeed, is about a young woman living in Pakistan, and several students have noted that this book was their first experience with literature set in Pakistan.
When she selected the title and created the class activities around it, Ms. Payne had no idea that her student Zaynab Buridi would be learning remotely from Pakistan while studying the book! When she returns, Zaynab will be able to share her experience of learning remotely from Pakistan with the class. Zaynab’s classmates have been impressed with her ability to be on time for remote classes, which is quite an achievement due to the time difference!
