Freshman delivers snacks and kindness to frontline medical workers
During the pandemic, freshman Megan Delande began looking for a meaningful way to give back to her community. As an aspiring healthcare professional, she decided on a project to support medical workers, and so “Snack Sacks for Good” was born. Megan’s goal with “Snack Sacks for Good” is to provide a simple care package and message of inspiration and thanks to frontline medical professionals, who are balancing their health and well-being against the demands of caring for COVID-19 patients.
Megan has delivered hundreds of snack sacks throughout our Louisville community. Her first delivery of 100 snack sacks was to Baptist Health and has been featured in the Courier-Journal! In honor of National Nurses Day on May 6, Megan delivered snack sacks to medical workers at University of Louisville Health and Norton Healthcare. So far, Megan has self-funded all her snack packs.
As the program continues to grow, Megan is working with local businesses to support her ongoing efforts so that Snack Sacks for Good can continue making deliveries. “I have learned how important it is to help those that are helping others in this time and how much they appreciate the kindness in the community,” she said.
Kudos to Megan for impacting so many lives with compassion and care, and for bringing citizen, scholar, steward to life in our community!
