Bearcats team up to launch website for reading program
Bryce Jackson ’26 had a great idea: to create a free “book buddy” reading program to help younger students improve their reading skills and develop a love for books. After working one-on-one with students over the phone via FaceTime, she wanted to create a website to help spread the word about Bryce’s Book Buddies program.
Bryce’s mom, Kori, reached out to Computer Science teacher Brian Wagner and Sarah Moran, Dean of Student Activities. Together, they hatched a plan: to identify creative, diligent upper school students to create the website and to offer them community service hours for their work. And voilà—sophomores Lucy Chandler and Raina Mahajan stepped up to the challenge. Within a week, they got Bryce's Book Buddies online!
Bryce has a great heart for reading and helping others, and is happy with the success of her program. “I'm very proud of Bryce's Book Buddies,” she said. “My program helps children with their comprehension skills and reading fluency.”
Big Bearcat Kudos to the creativity and dedication of this Bearcat team: Bryce, Lucy, and Raina. We are proud of you!
