Student’s music charity shifts focus to help those in need

Freshman Daniel Bronfman is a pianist and composer who has also founded a charity, Strikeachord for Change, which raises money for music education. Once he learned that large gatherings would be canceled due to COVID-19, he wanted to find a way to give back to his community without the aid of public performances. He decided to partner with Gustavo’s Mexican Grill, a restaurant where he has held charity events in the past. Daniel donated his next performance fee of $600 to provide 30 meals at Gustavo's as a way to help out those who are struggling to get enough to eat.
Currently, Daniel is raising even more funds for this cause through his GoFundMe page. These donations provide free, warm meals to those in need, particularly those impacted by COVID-19.

“I started Strikeachord for Change to share my love of music with kids who may not have the opportunity to experience it themselves,” Daniel said. “Although the goal has momentarily changed due to uncontrollable circumstances, I still hope to give back to those who truly need it at this time.”

We’re proud of how Daniel is bringing KCD’s mission of Citizen, Scholar, Steward to life!
