More than 30 teams of KCD parents, friends, grads, and faculty competed for bragging rights at Trivia Night on February 29. Guests had a great time bidding on a wide variety of live and silent auction items while also enjoying an incredible meal and festive beverages from Taco Luchador/Guacamole. We’re thrilled to announce that the evening raised over $170,000 for KCD!
The night started with an energetic live auction that culminated in this year’s Fund A Need. Each year, Fund A Need focuses on enhancing a specific part of KCD’s program or facilities—this year’s Fund A Need focused on restoring the nature trail in the woods at the edge of KCD’s campus. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we exceeded our $20,000 goal, allowing us to restore the nature trail as a resource for science teachers in all divisions. The restored trail will also make up part of a new cross country route for our running Bearcats. These funds will also allow us to establish a small apiary on campus and introduce beekeeping to our curriculum. Finally, we will also be able to enhance the outdoor vegetable garden and kiln area. If you would like to be a part of this fundraising effort, click here to make a gift and include "fund a need" in the designation box.
Congratulations to the trivia team of Roger & Sarah Dotsey, Guru & Kiley Pattar, Todd & Jill Soderquist, and Jason & Hannah Wemitt, who walked away with the top Trivia honors for the night. These lucky folks were our raffle winners:
Jaclyn Schmerge won the car raffle
Jackson Andrews won the Pappy Van Winkle raffle
Justin Kline won the Louisville Dining Raffle
Keri Williams won the Teacher Trip to the Beach
It’s not possible to pull off an event like this without a lot of hard work. We’d like to thank our parent co-chairs Tracy Amin, Emily White, Stacy Hartlage, and Allison Delande, as well as special events director Sheri Nilsson, the KCDate committee, and all those who donated items. Finally, thanks to the Development Office staff of Gentry Easley, Wendy Hesketh, Danielle Picken, and Steph Robertson. We couldn’t have done it without you!
