Third graders have a blast during the Kentucky Bash

On November 22, third grade students celebrated with their annual Kentucky Bash, which is the culmination of their Kentucky history unit. During this celebration of Kentucky history, students tried their hand at making items such as paper quilts and butter. Special guest Bill Davenport taught students about the dulcimer and limberjack toys, and Belle of Louisville historian Kadie Engstrom talked with students about the history and significance of the Belle, which is the oldest steamboat of her kind in the United States. The day was capped off by a trip to Locust Grove, a 55-acre 18th-century farm site and National Historic Landmark in eastern Jefferson County.
