Second graders weave science, music, and art into rainforest STEAM unit
Second graders celebrated the conclusion of their five-week STEAM unit by sharing an interactive performance with their peers. With the assistance of science specialist Tracy Gritton, music specialist LuAnn Hayes, and visual art specialist Rebecca Gallion, these young scientists and arts lovers discovered many learning connections through their interdisciplinary exploration of the rainforest ecosystem. This unit also benefited from the expertise of theater teaching artist Talleri McRae, who assisted students with their dramatic and musical interpretation of Jan Brett's The Umbrella. A special thanks to the KCD Fine Arts Guild for making Ms. McRae’s residency possible.
