Kindergarteners get moving with health and nutrition
Kindergartners recently began a new unit on Health and Nutrition. Students have participated in several activities throughout the week, such as doing body-brain movement relays on the sport court and learning about healthy eating habits from KCD nutritionist Catherine Arnold.
The Health and Nutrition unit is part of a new curriculum developed over the summer by kindergarten teachers Susan Christoff and Sarah Cohen. These teachers received a summer grant to revise the kindergarten thematic units. The focus of the themes remains literacy based while incorporating more hands-on projects and making better use of KCD’s various learning spaces and resources in the larger community. The new units include Health and Nutrition, Apples, Dinosaurs, and Community Helpers.
