Eighth graders develop positive leadership skills on retreat

On September 19, the 8th grade class took part in a half day retreat designed to encourage positive leadership as well as allow students to explore topics that might be important to them as they start thinking about their futures.
Former KCD faculty member, parent, and 2019 graduation speaker Chris Brice spoke encouraged our Bearcats to reflect on what is important to them and to start creating good habits now. He strongly encouraged our students to set a high bar when thinking about where they want to go and what they are willing to do to get there.

After lunch, Director of Diversity & Inclusion James Racine led a discussion that encouraged students to think about how to engage in discussions in a positive manner. The afternoon ended with a session on healthy choices. Cliff Long spoke with the students about sleep and nutrition and explained the necessary requirements for teenagers and how to make good decisions. Ed Long then shared an eye-opening presentation about e-cigarettes and vaping.

Thanks to the eighth grade team for planning a great day of activities for our students.
