Boys track team is regional runner up, girls team finishes strong
Congratulations to the boys and girls track and field teams on outstanding performances at the regional meet on May 14. The boys team brought home the regional runner-up trophy despite being predicted to finish in fourth place. The girls team placed fourth overall, one spot above their fifth place prediction.
The regional meet is a qualifier for the state meet, and KCD had several athletes who automatically qualified for the state meet, with the potential for several more individuals and relays to qualify at-large.
Congratulations to the following athletes, who automatically qualified for the state meet with a top-two finish in their events.
Lauren Rawson qualified in both the shot put and discus
Dorian Heard qualified in the 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash, with a first-place finish in the 400
Ken Thomas qualified in the long jump
The relay team of Henry Starks, Parker Touma, Thomas Fogarty, and Ben Clift qualified in the 4✕800
Congratulations to all of the track and field Bearcats—good luck at state!
