Director of Athletics Dr. Tim Green is pleased to announce that KCD middle school teacher Kristen Grogan has accepted the position of KCD head varsity girls basketball coach for the 2019–20 season. Coach Grogan also serves as the head coach for KCD varsity girls soccer.
Coach Grogan won two state championships as a high school basketball player in Oyster Bay, Long Island. She also coached basketball for six seasons in New York before moving to Kentucky.
“I am thrilled to accept the position of head basketball coach and can’t wait to start working with these amazing girls,” she said. “I’m excited to work on their basketball skills, teach them game strategies, help them be super fit and strong, and, most importantly, to have fun doing all of that!”
Coach Grogan is also up for the challenge of taking on another varsity sport at KCD. “As a multi sport athlete my whole life, the prospect of leading another varsity program really excites me,” she commented. “There are so many things to teach and learn that cross over different sports, and I can hardly wait to get started! We’re going to have a great 2019–20 season and have a blast doing it!”
Coach Grogan replaces Nick Lepera, who led the Bearcats for three seasons.
