    X-period speaker explores gender and identity

    Last week, the Upper School welcomed Dr. Jennifer Bryan of Re-Set School for a presentation exploring issues surrounding gender and identity. According to DEI Coordinator James Racine, the  goal of this session was to spread awareness and education on gender identity and to cover best practices on how to be inclusive in relation to this dimension of diversity.     Visiting speaker leads student session on Black history

    This February, students in grades 8–12 engaged in an exciting and thought-provoking session around Black history. This workshop incorporated a lot of data, but also unpacked how our history has impacted our communities today. Students explored this history not only from a national perspective, but also on a local level as well. This lecture was extremely interactive and was facilitated by Jecorey Arthur, who is a professor at Simmons College of Kentucky as well as a Louisville City Council member.

    Faculty DEI training continues

    During our January in-service, KCD faculty discussed classroom culture and inclusive practices. They also explored the examination and creation of digital media as a catalyst to make thinking visible and engage in challenging or difficult conversations while teaching in person, online, or in a hybrid learning environment.
