    KCD grad is working to install public art honoring women

    A few days ago, the University of Chicago unveiled a new statue in their student center—one of the few works on campus recognizing women. The statue honors Dr. Georgiana Simpson, the first African American woman to earn a doctorate from an American University, and it’s there thanks to the efforts of KCD grad Asya Akca '14 and her UChicago classmate Shae Omonijo. The two third-year students have started a group called Monumental Women, which raised funds to commission the artwork and worked with the University to have it installed on campus. Congratulations to Asya for her work in bringing women’s history to light!

    Financial news company names KCD best private high school in Kentucky

    This news story on local station WDRB reports that KCD's Frazier Upper School has once again been named the best private high school in Kentucky. The ranking considered SAT and ACT test scores, the quality of colleges considered by students, the student-teacher ratio, and racial and economic diversity. Congratulations to our upper school teachers and staff!

  • KCD honors veterans at all-school assembly

    On November 10, the KCD community gathered in the Gardner Gym for our annual Veterans Day assembly. This year’s guest speaker was Col. Reese Turner, who has served in the military for nearly 30 years. He has deployed three times to Iraq, twice to Afghanistan, and once to Haiti. He currently serves as the Chief, Operations Support Division, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate at the Army’s Human Resources Command at Ft. Knox.

  • Kindergartners welcome parents for music and coffee

    On October 20, kindergarten students welcomed parents into the music classroom to share what they have been learning in music class this fall. Students used tempo, rhythm, and creative movement in their presentation and even allowed their parents to participate. Parents enjoyed coffee and treats after the event.

    Erin Wilhelmi ’04 shines in second Broadway role

    Following her Broadway debut in the revival of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Erin Wilhelmi ’04 landed her second Broadway role this summer when she joined the new cast of the Tony-nominated A Doll’s House, Part 2. The New York Times published its very positive review of the new cast on August 28, stating that “the new cast in place since July 25 pretty much seals the deal on the play’s extraordinary merits.” Congratulations, Erin!
