Summer is here! We hope you find time for rest, relaxation, and a great summer read.

Please look below for your assigned summer reading for next year:
  • Read these books carefully and be prepared to discuss and write about these texts on the first day of your new English class. 
  • Please bring these books to the first day of school.
  • You may receive an email from your teacher prior to the start of school with some additional information. 
  • If you have questions, email your English teacher for the upcoming school year.
The US Summer Reading List is available at this link. If you are interested in reading a book of comparable difficulty that is not on the list, please ask your future English teacher for permission.

English 9 (Mr. Coughlan): 
The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.

English 9 Advanced (Dr. Salerno): 
Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah (or the young adult version of the same book with the PG-13 language omitted) and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.

English 10 (Ms. Kuffner or Mr. Coughlan): 
Maus I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.

English 10 Adv (Ms. Raia): 
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.

English 11 (Dr. Brown): 
Now Is Not the Time To Panic by Kevin Wilson and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.

English 11 AP (Dr. Brown): 
Stay True by Hua Hsu and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.

English 12 (Dr. Salerno):
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris and any memoir of your choice (athlete, politician, historical figure, entertainer, etc. Pick someone who interests YOU).

English 12 AP (Ms. Kuffner or Dr. Salerno): 
Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer and one book you have not previously read from the US Summer Reading List.
