Varsity Girls Soccer Assistant Coach

Kentucky Country Day School seeks a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Girls Varsity Assistant Soccer Coach to support the development of a competitive and character-driven soccer program. The assistant coach will help foster a positive team culture that aligns with KCD’s mission of academic excellence, integrity, sportsmanship, and whole-child development.

Primary Responsibilities
Program Support & Player Development
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting effective, developmentally appropriate practices
  • Teach sport-specific skills, tactics, and game strategies
  • Provide individualized feedback to support player growth
  • Promote strength, conditioning, and injury prevention best practices
Game-Day Responsibilities
  • Assist with game preparation, scouting, and opponent analysis
  • Support in-game coaching decisions and player management
  • Help supervise athletes before, during, and after contests

Culture & Character
  • Model and promote good sportsmanship and professionalism
  • Reinforce team standards of accountability, discipline, and respect
  • Support the social-emotional development of student-athletes
  • Foster an inclusive and positive team environment

Communication & Collaboration
  • Maintain clear communication with the Head Coach and Athletic Director
  • Support communication with players and families as directed by the Head Coach
  • Collaborate with other coaches to support multi-sport athletes
  • Represent KCD and the athletic program with professionalism

Administrative & Safety Duties
  • Assist with equipment inventory and care
  • Ensure adherence to KHSAA rules and school policies
  • Maintain current CPR/AED and required coaching certifications
  • Prioritize student-athlete safety at all times

Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred
  • Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals and strategy
  • Ability to teach, motivate, and mentor high school student-athletes
  • Commitment to the mission and values of an independent school environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Attributes
  • Experience working with college-bound student-athletes
  • Ability to build positive relationships with families
  • Understanding of the balance between academics and athletics in a rigorous school setting
