Maintenance Specialist

Kentucky Country Day School is in immediate need of a Maintenance Specialist who is responsible for campus maintenance repairs and upkeep. The Maintenance Specialist works within the Facilities department and will engage in courteous interactions with all other departments, staff, and visitors on campus.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform general building maintenance repair work; electrical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing and painting work to maintain facilities.
  • Performs troubleshooting and maintenance repair on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and roofing equipment and systems.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnoses problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Performs a variety of plumbing, painting and carpentry functions.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Ensure buildings and doors are secure.
  • Install and repair lamps, ballasts, and covers.
  • Repair locking systems on doors, file cabinets, and lockers.
  • Load and deliver tables and chairs to special events.
  • Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Run errands as needed.
  • Ability to complete most projects with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 5 years general facilities maintenance experience.
  • HVAC, electrical, or plumbing experience required.
  • HVAC certification preferred or a willingness to obtain.
  • Intermediate knowledge of methods and principles of general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, HVAC, drywall, grounds and landscaping work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of proper use of hand tools including grounds and yard tools.
 
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces and work at height.
  • Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, kneeling, shoveling/hunched over activities, etc.
  • Ability to move around the campus quickly, as needed.
