KCD rockstars headlined All-State Modern Band

Move over, Coachella—the real talent was at the Galt House last weekend! Kentucky Country Day was the most heavily represented school in the entire state at the KMEA All-State Modern Band concert on February 6. Out of nearly 200 musicians from across the Commonwealth, five of our very own Bearcats didn’t just make the cut—they owned the stage. From soulful vocals to precision on the drums and marimba, these students proved that KCD is where the next generation of artists comes to play.
Shoutout to our KCD reps who brought the energy across every division:
  • Upper School: Ariele Zuva ’29 & Maya Mathew ’28 (Vocals)
  • Middle School: Emmett Heitkemper ’32 (Vocals) & JD Doty ’30 (Drums)
  • Lower School: Harrison Nicholls ’34 (Marimba)
Our students participated in two days of high-intensity rehearsals with professional guest clinicians, collaborating with new bandmates and perfecting their setlists. The result? A standing-room-only show in the Cochran Ballroom that felt more like a stadium tour than a school concert. KCD’s continued success at the KMEA conference underscores the school’s commitment to a well-rounded JK-12 education where the arts are celebrated alongside academics and athletics.

Go Bearcats!
