KCD Middle School Speech Team competes at the SCAPA Invitational
On Saturday, January 10, the KCD Middle School Speech Team traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, to compete in the SCAPA Invitational, where the Bearcats placed 6th overall.
Students from 13 schools submitted more than 200 entries across the various speech competitions at the tournament. With KCD submitting just eight entries—less than 4% of the total field—the team delivered an impressive finish.
Congratulations to the entire team and to standout performers Asher Gallagher ’30, Tournament Champion in Broadcasting, and Ayaan Rallapalli ’30, Tournament Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Individual Highlights
Broadcasting:
Asher Gallagher ’30 was named Tournament Champion.
Ayaan Rallapalli ’30 placed 2nd out of 27 competitors.
Extemporaneous Speaking:
Ayaan Rallapalli ’30 was crowned Tournament Champion.
Asher Gallagher ’30 placed 7th out of 12 competitors.
Original Oratory:
Eva Zou ’31 placed 5th overall out of 12 competitors.
Kosuke Morinaga ’30 and Asher Gallagher ’30 also delivered strong performances in this category, contributing to the team’s ranking.
Prose Interpretation:
Eva Zou ’31 earned 2nd place overall out of 24 competitors.
