KCD turf field gets a new look with added safety features

Kentucky Country Day School recently completed a major update to its field hockey and lacrosse turf field. The Bearcat community will celebrate the installation of the new turf on Wednesday, March 23 at 5 pm. The brief gathering will take place just before the varsity girls lacrosse match against Indian Hill High School (Ohio)—the first game to be played on the new turf.
“The turf is the centerpiece of our outdoor athletic fields,” stated Amy Elliott, Athletic Director at KCD. “Our new turf is not only unique, but also a state-of-the-art field that will provide a safe and elite playing surface. It will be utilized not only by our student-athletes, but also by our Physical Education department, any school events or activities, and outside companies looking to rent the facility. Having a turf field allows KCD the convenience to play in inclement weather—and helps us avoid troublesome cancellations and rescheduled games.”

KCD’s turf field was originally built in 2011 with funding from an anonymous donor. The new turf renovation—installed by the Motz Group, a sports field construction company based in Ohio—also included an added shock pad under the field, making the facility safer for student-athletes.
