Varsity Girls Lacrosse wins 2026 KHSAA State Championship

The KCD Varsity Girls Lacrosse team won the inaugural KHSAA Girls Lacrosse State Championship on Wednesday, May 20, after defeating Sacred Heart Academy 13-9 at Great Crossings High School in Georgetown, KY.
The win marks the Girls Lacrosse Bearcats’ fifth state title in six years, and the program’s 12th state championship win overall.

“It’s always a reflection of the hard work of these kids, though,” said Head Coach Patrick McAnulty. “I’m just so proud of them, being in a small school, we’re with them for a long time, we really see them grow, and we see them mature, and we see them go through trials and tribulations together, and they stuck through it. We overcame an amazing Eastern team in the quarterfinals. They had us on the ropes, and we came back, and we played a great game today. Overall, I’m just proud of them. It’s amazing.”

Individual athletes were also honored at the ceremony following the game. Ellie Beam ’26 and Izzie Maki ’26 were named to the 2026 All-Tournament Team, and Olivia Autry ’27 was named Tournament MVP!

Way to go, Bearcats!
