Congratulations to our Track and Field teams who competed in the Region 3 Class 1A meet this week! KCD had many exciting individual and relay performances, including many personal records and season bests!
The girls team finished 5th overall and the boys are the Region 3 Class 1A champions! This is the Bearcats’ first team regional championship since 2000, and the first time anyone has defeated Holy Cross since the regions were realigned in 2017!
Several athletes and relays automatically qualified for State with their regional results, with the potential for several more individuals and relays to qualify at large. Big congratulations to our automatic State qualifiers: Girls 4x800 (Miller, Panchal, Rice, Schoenegge) 1st, Kyle Stepteau 100 m 2nd, Boys 4x200 (Stepteau, Touma, Robinson, Ferid) 1st, Boys 4x100 (Brown, Bockhorst, Robinson, Stepteau) 2nd, Parker Touma 400m 1st, Paker Touma 200m 2nd, Haley Schoenegge 3200m 1st, Girls 4x400 (Rice, Schoenegge, Panchal, Miller) 2nd, Boys 4x400 (Touma, Stucky, Brown, Ferid) 1st, Xavier Hayden Shot Put 2nd, Xavier Hayden Discus 2nd, Isaiah Long Jump 2nd, and Ahilan Rangaswamy High Jump 1st.

The Boys 4x200 (Isaiah Robinson, Kyle Stepteau, Sem Ferid, and Parker Touma), set a new school record in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:33.67. That beats the old record from 2000 by almost 2 seconds!
The State Meet will take place June 2 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Go Bearcats!
