Boys and girls golf teams win All A regional titles
On August 24, the varsity boys and girls golf teams both finished as champions in the All A Regional tournament. Both teams will compete in Richmond, Kentucky, on September 9 for the All A Classic State Tournament.
The boys team turned in a team score of 161 for the win, earning them a spot at state. The boys team earned a regional championship for the third consecutive year, led by Carl Williams (38) and Ryan Johnson (39). The team finished third overall in the state tournament last year, tying the 2011 school record for the highest team finish.
The girls team picked up their fourth consecutive All-A Regional championship, shooting their lowest team score of the season. The team has a number of players who are new to the sport but have shown dramatic improvement they hope to continue in the weeks ahead. The Bearcats were led by freshman Sharini Shah, who will be joined at the state tournament by sophomore Allie Dreher and seniors Erin Gillis and Ellie Vine. The girls team will return to the state tournament hoping to improve on last year's 12th place finish.
