A601: English Grammar/Writing/Vocabulary Immersion Week (Grades 6th-9th)

Save money and enroll your student in a full week of English immersion! Essentially an English camp, this option allows both struggling students and those who excel a focused opportunity to hone their language skills for a full week in preparation for the coming year. Believe it or not, kids come out of this camp with smiles on their faces every year. We work HARD, but we also have FUN! This full set of classes is the most popular option for the motivated English student. Classes fill each year, and students love the full-day experience. Some call it English Camp, and many come back for multiple years of learning and fun. Please email me ( with any questions and register early to ensure a spot.

A602: Exponential Expansion of ACT/SAT/ERB Vocabulary: ROCK THE TESTS! (Grades Entering 6th-9th)

FUN BOOK FOR 2021! Vocabulary Cartoons, by the Princeton Review, and ROCK THE SAT, a CD of songs that incorporate the hot 200 SAT/ACT words into catchy, easy-to-remember pop/rock songs (all materials provided by the instructor)

This course will involve nothing less than an assault on several professional study guides for ACT/SAT/ERB vocabulary. We will engage in a myriad of creative games and exercises that will aid in burning these words indelibly into our minds. The books we use offer excellent visual mnemonic devices, making learning difficult words much less painful than a standard vocabulary text.

Again this year we will be using the very popular rock music component! Rock The SAT makes learning high-stakes testing vocabulary as easy as listening to your mobile device. I will provide the songs, and students will be able to import them into their iTunes for listening well beyond the week of class! Believe it or not, this class is actually FUN:-).

Please Note: Should you wish to enroll your child in both this course and the accompanying afternoon course(s) I offer, I will gladly supervise the lunch hour here at school. Students will need to bring their own lunches each morning. Refrigeration is available.

Using the tremendous technological tools now at our disposal, we will immerse ourselves fully in the writing process, learning the fundamentals of excellence in essay writing. We will pay special attention to the art of self-editing and revision, which will require students to begin to understand writing as a process, rather than a product. Students will produce at least one and possibly two complete essays within our week of work. No homework will be required, but I will offer p.m. digital assistance for any motivated students who want to work and night to go the extra mile! Please Note: Should you wish to enroll your child in both this course and the accompanying morning course(s) I offer, I will gladly supervise the lunch hour here at school.
