A101: Field Hockey Camp (Grades 1–7th)

The KCD Field Hockey Camp is designed to assist elementary and middle school players in the development of their field hockey skills. The camp will center on the individual, small group, and team instruction. The KCD Field Hockey Camp Staff will assist camp players in learning and developing stick skills, field hockey fundamentals, and team strategies. A basic overview of field hockey rules and their effect on team play will be discussed by the coaching staff during camp. The campers will learn a lot and have fun too! Equipment Required: Players are required to furnish their own stick, mouth guard, shin guards, and water bottle. Players are encouraged to wear cleats, though sneakers are allowed. p.s. If you are a goalie, you need to provide your own equipment. KCD does have extra equipment, but the staff needs to see if it is available and fits properly. Please call Amy Elliott, 502-262-3513 if your daughter needs equipment (Try and ask the coach/team you currently play for to use the equipment for the week)

A102: Bearcat Football Future Champions Camp

Come and learn all of the important skills needed to be a great football player at one of the best camps for young players in the area. The camp, led by KCD’s own Head Football Coach, Matthew Jones, gives instruction in throwing, catching, blocking, tackling, and all the skills needed to be successful in football. Campers will be divided by age and ability level, and drills will be directed to each individual. A variety of techniques, including videotaping, will be used to aid in teaching. It won’t be all work though — Coach Jones will use games to make sure fun is had by all.

A103: Move Up to Algebra II

Many students take a year off between Algebra 1 and 2. This camp is designed to help students bridge the gap between the two courses, and to remind them of important concepts that may have been forgotten. In particular, we will learn about function notation, function operations, graphing and translations, and exponents/logarithms.

A104: Lego Robotics

Campers will get to build creations using our Lego WeDo building sets AND make them move! If you love Legos and you love robots, and gears, then this is the camp for you! New this year, we will get to use some of the Lego NXT robots!

A105: The Great Outdoors: Nature and Animals

Campers will spend time both indoors and outdoors learning about Nature and Animals. We’ll hike KCD’s nature trail, identifying trees, plants, and animals we see along the way, learn about various animals through videos and books, discuss ways to care for nature, and create some nature crafts! Notes: please bring clothing suitable for outdoor activities and potentially messy crafts including glue and paint. Water bottles are encouraged. A small snack will be provided but campers may bring their own as well.

A106: Bearcat Day Camp: A STEAM Adventure

Come play and learn with us for a FULL DAY at KCD! This camp will run Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Explore your favorite science topics including space, dinosaurs, chemistry, and more. Each day will feature STEAM projects connecting science with technology, engineering, art, and math. In between our learning experiences, we will play games outside, go on nature hikes, sing traditional campfire songs, and make a different craft each day. A themed snack will be provided, but students should pack a lunch each day. Please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Bring a sleeping bag and stuffed animal for our 'campfire' time if you'd like! It will be a fun week!

A107: Baking Bearcats

Ready, set bake! Come join Mrs. Marek and learn how to make rich, delicious cake pops, creative-critter cupcakes, double-stuffed cookies, a triple-decker rainbow cake, 4th of July Rice Krispie treats, healthy no-bake yummies, and so more! You will also create our own colorful, artistic cookbook that can be used for many years to come! So, roll up your sleeves, get ready to measure, mix, pour, decorate, and have some summer fun! A108: ACT Book Camp

This ACT class will thoroughly covers all four phases of the ACT test (Science, English, Reading, and Math) and teach them all kinds of tricks and strategies to improve in all areas. All students will get a free ACT book for the course and will need to bring a calculator, notebook and pencil each day.
