A101: Kitchen Chemistry and Household Science (online camp, morning session)

Weekly sessions with fun, informative science experiments to conduct at home. Learn about elements and practice writing chemical equations using pretzels, marshmallows and markers. Play element bingo, then design and build a simple structure for the slowest marble run. A list of materials, with options and alternatives, will be provided in advance. Class time will allow for construction, revision, discussion and questions. For students new to KCD or those needing a review, the steps of the scientific method will guide our approach.

A103: Mindful Meditation/Stress Reduction/Goal Setting (online camp)

Participants will engage in a variety of activities to help with the stress and anxiety that can be connected to the pressures of high school and teenage life. Activities will include meditation, creative visualization, relaxation, breathing techniques and yoga. Ultimately, workshop participants will become more focused and aware in the present moment, as well as becoming clear that good habits translate into excellent results! This will be a fun and creative way to become better goal setters and achievers.

A104: Bearcat Remote Summer Education: Semi-Private Writing/Grammar Tutoring (online camp)

Use summer to make strides in honing your child’s English skills!

Mr. Pollitt will spend a week with your child, working on whatever writing and/or grammar issues are most pressing. If you’re not sure what is needed but know your child needs English help, Mr. Pollitt will evaluate the needs and design writing exercises to encourage growth and progress. This offering is essentially personal writing tutoring at less than half the normal cost.

With a maximum of five students, these semi-private sessions will allow maximum potential for feedback and revision in a cost-effective remote environment.
