The KCD Middle School Extended Day Program provides a safe and structured environment for students who remain in the academic building beyond the hours of the normal school day. Extended Day offerings are available Monday–Friday to all middle school students, including those already enrolled in after school sports, clubs, or the Fine Arts Academy. We offer the following after school programs for students in grades 5–8:

  • After School Room

    In an effort to provide faculty supervision, snacks for students, and an extended time for pickup, we are piloting a few changes to this program. The After School Room will provide supervised care Monday through Friday from 3:30-6:00 pm. Students are taken outdoors from 3:30–4:30, weather permitting, and then go inside for study or quiet social time until 6:00 pm. Students will receive snack at 3:30 provided by the school. There is no pre-registration required for this program, and families will be billed $5/day. Parents are required to come into the school to pick up and sign out their child by 6:00 pm. Parents who pick up and sign out their children prior to 4:00 pm will not be billed.   • Homework Clinic

    Homework Clinic is available to help students with organization, study skills, setting priorities, and time management for long-range assignments. Homework Clinic meets Monday–Friday from 3:30–5:30 pm. Students may participate in as many days as they wish, but must pre-register prior to the start of the week. Students should bring all homework materials, their Chromebook, and a book for reading. The cost for this program includes snack for students and is $10/student/day, families will be billed by KCD.   • Personalized Tutoring

    This program provides personalized instruction by a KCD-approved tutor specifically aligned to your child’s learning needs and KCD’s academic goals. Tutors will have access to KCD teacher assignments and resources and will communicate progress to the faculty through our Learning Services Coordinator.
