Boys track team breaks three school records at Eastern Relays
Congratulations to the varsity track & field athletes on their strong performances at the Eastern Relays on April 20–21. Eastern Relays is one of the most competitive meets in the state and includes some of the top runners in the nation. The strong competition pushed the Bearcats to some outstanding performances—including three school records—as well as many season and personal bests.
Wilder Brice set a new school record in the 2000m steeplechase with a time of 7:10.46. Both the boys 800 and 1600 sprint medley relay teams broke school records as well. The 800 sprint medley relay team of Ken Thomas, Robert Thomas, Dorian Heard, and Muhammad Draw ran a 1:47.05. The 1600 sprint medley relay team of Ryan Lentini, Vijay Vinayakan, Mick Smith, and Dorian Heard ran a blazing 4:04.39 for the record.
The following athletes also turned in new personal best performances at the meet: Harper Smith (100m), Ashley White (100m), Ali Chaker (100m), Lorenzo Mahoney (800m), Kross Locke (1600m), and Gianni Minor (long jump). The boys 4✕200 relay (Gianni Minor-Ken Thomas-Dorian Heard-Mick Smith) and 4✕800 relay (Ryan Lentini-Kross Locke-Henry Starks-Thomas Fogarty) also turned in season best performances.
