O’Brien speaker offers comfort and support to seniors
This year’s O’Brien Senior Luncheon was held at a difficult time for seniors, coming soon after the death of their classmate London Mathis. This year’s speaker, Mr. Dean Otto, told seniors that he understood what they were going through.
A former KCD student, Mr. Otto was friends with Matt O’Brien, the namesake of the Lecture series, when he died shortly after graduating from KCD in 1983. Mr. Otto urged seniors to take comfort in each other and to come together and support each other in the days ahead. A group of graduates from the class of ’83 also attended this year’s luncheon to show their support. We’d like to thank them for coming and to thank Mr. Otto for his message of encouragement during a difficult time.
This annual senior luncheon is held in honor of Matt O’Brien, a 1983 KCD graduate who was struck with a recurring illness and passed away shortly after graduation. His family, friends, and classmates established this lectureship in memory of his achievements and his ideals of friendship, scholarship, and citizenship.
