Student-run DanceBlue raises $10,500 for pediatric cancer research
DanceBlue, a dance marathon started at University of Kentucky, returned to KCD this year thanks to student organizers Grace Bagga ’19 and Elizabeth Scinta ’18. DanceBlue raises money for pediatric cancer research.
KCD’s marathon was held over four hours on Saturday, March 17. UK students came to help out, and the dance had hourly themes as well with lots of games corresponding to each hour. Grace and Heath Scharf ’19 both shaved their heads to stand in unity with those who have to shave their head due to cancer. At the end of the marathon, two students spoke who had both beat pediatric cancer. It was an emotional night for everyone involved, and through all of their fundraising efforts (bake sales, GoFundMe campaigns, and other hard work), students raised over $10,500 for pediatric cancer research.
Congratulations to Grace, Elizabeth, and all the other students on being great citizens and stewards!
