Senior leads letter-writing project for soldiers

Jeff Topham
Thanks the hard work of KCD senior Brigitta Hendren, 3,409 letters were delivered over the holidays to Fort Campbell soldiers stationed overseas.
Brigitta came up with the idea for the project and got students at KCD and other local schools to help. “A letter can go a long way, especially around the holidays,” she said. “I’ve always felt that it’s important to support the men and women who are willing and ready to give their lives to protect our rights.”

The letters were delivered during the Fort Campbell Christmas party. Brigitta, along with senior Sarah Gupta, freshman Sanju Alankar, and teachers Tracy Gritton, Carey Lericos, and Matt Evans traveled to Fort Campbell to help out with the party. The students ran craft tables for the children of Fort Campbell families, and Santa delivered about 100 goodie bags provided and decorated by KCD kindergartners and second graders.

In addition, Matt Evans presented a check for $1,200 for the Special Forces College Scholarship fund. This money was raised during a fundraising drive in the fall.
New line.
