Boys’ soccer season is one for the history books

James Booker
Congratulations to coach Jason Bell and the boys’ soccer team on their historic playoff run! On October 23, the team’s 1-0 overtime victory over Manual gave the Bearcats their first-ever 7th Region final appearance.
Mark Holtgrave scored the winning goal, assisted by Jonathan Laise. The team fell to #1 Trinity in the final game on October 25 but gave a valiant effort in the defeat.

Jonathan Laise, Connor Caudill, and Mark Holtgrave were named to the All Region team for their play during the tournament.

Head coach Jason Bell was delighted with his team’s performance this season. “We made a great run in the playoffs, and I’m extremely proud of all the goals our team was able to accomplish. As a coach, you hope to play your best at the end of the season when it counts the most, and we did,” he said. “The fact that it energized our entire school community was an added benefit. It shows that a school our size can compete with anyone if the players, students, and community all pull together and give 110%.”

The soccer Bearcats finished the season 14-8 overall, tying Collegiate and St. Xavier for the second-most wins in the region behind Trinity. KCD was also third in the region in total goals scored. Congratulations to the Bearcats on a fantastic season—you made the KCD community proud!
