Haley Schoenegge ’23 places first at State in 3200

The Bearcat Track and Field teams competed at the State Championship in Lexington, KY on Thursday, June 2. Haley Schoenegge ’23 brought home her second consecutive State title in the 3200 with a time of 11:38.74. This historic win means she is the first KCD Girls Track and Field athlete to have back-to-back State titles.
Both the boys and girls teams put on impressive performances in their respective events; the boys team placed 17th overall and the girls placed 14th overall.

Congratulations to the following athletes on a job well done!
  • Boys 4x200 (Kyle Stepteau ’25, Parker Touma ’22, Isaiah Robinson ’22, and Sem Ferid ’22) were the State runners-up, with a SB of 1:33.18. This breaks and lowers their own school record set at Regionals.
  • Girls 4x800 (Haley Schoenegge ’23, Maddox Miller ’23, Andie Rice ’22, and Sonia Panchal ’22) were the State runners-up, with a Season Best (SB) time of 10:14.23.
  • Parker Touma ’22 placed 6th in the 400 with a time of 51.98. He also placed 15th in the 200 with a time of 23.83.
  • Ryan Shaps ’25 placed 9th in the 1600 with a PR of 4:39.27.
  • Andie Rice ’22 placed 10th in the 800 with a PR of 2:33.26.
  • Ava Hurwitz ’24 placed 13th in the 3200 with a time of 13.12.59.
  • Kyle Stepteau ’25 placed 13th in the 100 m with a PR of 11.50. He also placed 14th in the 200 with a PR of 23.74.
  • Boys 4x400 relay placed 15th with a time of 3:44.82
  • Boys 4x100 (Carter Brown ’23, Clay Bockhorst ’22, Isaiah Robinson ’22, and Ahilan Rangaswamy ’23) placed 16th with a time of 46.88.
  • Isaiah Robinson ’22 placed 17th overall in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet, 5.5 inches.
  • Symone Jackson ’24 placed 19th overall in the 100 meter dash with a Personal Record (PR) of 13.40.
  • Our Girls 4x400 m relay (Haley Schoenegge ’23, Andie Rice ’22, Maddox Miller ’23, and Sonia Panchal ’22) placed 22nd with a time of 4:44.60.
  • Our Girls 4x200 m relay (Megan Maines ’22, Symone Jackson ’24, Abby Caudill ’22, and Lakayla Smith ’22) placed 22nd with a time of 1:59.01.
  • Xavier Hayden ’23 placed 22rd in the discus with a throw of 103 feet and 7 inches. He also placed 23rd in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet and 3.5 inches.
  • Ahilan Rangaswamy ’23 participated in the high jump attempting 5 foot, 8 inches.
