Orchestra rocks out at spring concert

The KCD Orchestra was back in action on the evening of May 12, 2022—and Bearcat families and friends were delighted to attend the first full concert in more than two years!

The Young Strings led by Conductor Sarah Stone kicked-off the evening with classics such as Twinkle, Hot Cross Buns, and Ode to Joy. We look forward to watching our youngest musicians continue to learn and grow in our Fine Arts program.

Maestro James Racine then led the Middle and Upper School Orchestra through an exciting and fun-filled performance featuring works by artists like Van Halen, Taylor Swift, and Bruno Mars. Selections ranged from Pirates of the Caribbean to Industry Baby, making for a diverse and energetic showcase.

Our orchestra seniors were celebrated at their final performance with special shout outs from Mr. Racine. Congratulations to May Alsoufi, Sem Ferid, Graesyn Heimer, Riley Lewis, Sandhya Lohano, Isaiah Robinson, Jenna Shaps, and Bryce Wunderlich!

We are so grateful to Mr. Racine for his many years of dedication, creativity, and mentorship; he has created a truly remarkable and special program for our Bearcats. Although Mr. Racine will be stepping into a new full-time role focused on inclusion and community engagement efforts at KCD, we know he will visit with our orchestra students as often as possible!
