During the Alumni and Chair’s Reception on February 8, we were proud to honor KCD parents Carrie Birkhead Scharf ’82 and David Scharf with the Exceptional Service Award. Interim Head of School Anne Glosky and Board Chair George Wagner presented the Scharfs with the award, which recognizes individuals who have made important contributions to the KCD community.
In her remarks, Ms. Glosky noted that the Scharfs “have been tireless volunteers in numerous ways, but most notably through their leadership efforts within fine arts. There has not been a performance in nearly 15 years that has not been positively impacted by the Scharf family in some way. Whether the audience was captivated by Gillian, Katie, Annie, or Heath playing a lead role on stage or a wardrobe malfunction was being fixed backstage by Carrie and a needle and thread or a child being sent soaring over the audience at the hands of David, they’ve been a part of the performance. Their involvement in ways both big and small has been instrumental to the overall success of the entire arts program at KCD.”
The Alumni and Chair’s Reception is an annual event for KCD graduates, major donors, and volunteers. For the last two years, the reception has been held at Copper & Kings.
