Part Time Accountant

KCD has an immediate opening for a part time accountant. This is a year-round (12 month), part time position, working approximately four days per month, approximately 20% FTE.
The Accountant is responsible for maintenance of the general ledger and financial reporting. The Accountant reports to the CFO

Job responsibilities include
  • Preparation of the monthly income statement and balance sheet
  • Monthly review of variances in the financial statements, research into those variances and any corrective action that is warranted.
  • Monthly endowment accounting, to record income and expense related to endowment investments
  • Research in response to inquiries into transactions in the general ledger
  • Compilation of the annual preliminary (Fall) and final (Summer) budget
  • Allocation of final budget amounts to accounts and monthly time periods (Fall)
  • Preparation of the annual forecast of year end results (April)
  • Preparation of schedules for the annual financial audit (July)
  • Collection and input of data for annual surveys – INDEX, DASL, BIIS (Fall)
  • Other duties as assigned by the CFO
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree; any additional degree is a plus
  • CPA or additional relevant experience
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong technology skills, particularly as it relates financial statement preparation and presentation, as well as common office technology.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud or Fund Driver is a plus
