After School & Summer Camp Coordinator

Kentucky Country Day School is currently seeking an After School & Summer Camp Coordinator. The After School & Summer Camp Coordinator will directly oversee the Lower School Bearcat Den after school program at KCD with support from The Director of Auxiliary Programs. In addition, this position will assist the Director of Auxiliary Programs with all Summer Stretch programming and supervision. This is a part-time position (20-25 hours per week) working 2:00pm - 6:00pm during the school year, flexible hours between 8:00am - 5:00pm during the summer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Bearcat Den
  • Direct supervision of children and workers in Bearcat Den.
  • Must be on site and present daily from 2:00pm-6:00pm on school days.
  • Oversee and be present for all faculty in-service child-care dates for the school.
  • Management of schedules for parents, children and all workers in Bearcat Den.
  • Ability to learn and use the school’s child-care software to manage student attendance and billing.
  • Assist with the registration process for after school classes and intramural sports as needed.
  • Hire, train and supervise all Bearcat Den employees with assistance from Human Resources and the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
Summer Stretch Coordinator
  • Assist the Director of Auxiliary Programs with summer programming, sign-in/sign-out processes, lunch bunch and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in preparing the Summer Stretch Catalog.
  • Ability to learn and use Camp Brain registration software.
  • Prepare materials for instructors prior to camp.
  • Be available to support instructors and coaches as needed during program hours when on site.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with elementary age school children (ages 4-12) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, creative thinking.
  • Ability to manage and supervise others (both adults and children).
  • Strong presence and ability to lead and direct large groups of children.
  • Effective communication skills that promote positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Commitment to continual development of one’s cultural competence.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs.
  • Ability to oversee and ensure the safety of children in and out of the classroom, including escorting them over the large campus.
  • Ability to be physically present in the classroom / Bearcat Den.
  • Ability to work in a wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school.
  • Ability to move around the campus quickly, as needed.
