Varsity football now using ‘the NFL’s safest helmet’

This year, the varsity football team started using the Vicis Zero1, an innovative helmet designed to reduce concussions and head injuries. This story in the Lexington Herald-Leader interviews head coach Matt Jones and a number of our players about their experience with the helmets.
According to the article, the Vicis Zero1 was the top-performing helmet in the NFL’s most recent performance testing and has been adopted by a number of NFL players. About 400 high school football programs have players using the helmets, but KCD is one of the only schools to have adopted the helmets program-wide. We’re proud of the stewardship displayed by our coaching staff and our football families in putting student safety first!
