Eighth grader advances to national MathCounts competition
Congratulations to eighth grader Aryan Agahtehrani for advancing to the National Mathcounts competition. Aryan was a top-four finisher at the state competition on March 25, which made him eligible for the national competition. In a normal year, there are close to 1,000 competitors in Kentucky alone. There were approximately 80 students who made it to the Kentucky state competition this year. The national competition will be held remotely on May 8–10, with the top four students from each state competing.
With his top-four finish, Aryan has won his choice of a full four-year scholarship to U of L or $24,000 to the College of Engineering at UK. He also was awarded MathCounts scholarship money towards any college he chooses.
Aryan will be KCD’s fifth student to make it to the national competition. Way to go Aryan!
