Optional Running Dates: June 4th, June 18th. All running dates start at 7:45 am

There are new shin guard regulations that will go into effect this year. They must have this logo as "a permanent seal in the exterior top one-third of the shin guard component so as to be accessible to the referee for inspection". Without this logo, referees will not permit players to participate in the game.

8/26 vs CAL
In one of their toughest matches of the entire 2008 season, KCD’s girls soccer team took to the field to play state-ranked CAL on Tuesday night. Despite facing an older and more experienced team, the Bearcats remained undaunted as they began to play what would be come their best performance yet in a very early season. Moving to the ball, communicating effectively, and shutting down CAL’s offense, KCD played a strategically defensive game which allowed individuals to use both old and new skills. Highlights of the game included Michelle Worthington’s tireless center-mid work and signature top-foot traps, Kate Zoppoth and Meredith Garner’s amazing performance as co-stoppers, Hadiya Deshmukh’s single-handed shut down of CAL’s 6’2” forward while in goal, and Casey Bariteau’s Olympic-worthy sprints to keep the defense clear. Goalie Margaret Giesel also made multiple key saves throughout the first half. Though the score ended 0 – 8, the girls stepped up make it the best game against CAL in their team’s short history. The team next plays J-town on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd at KCD.

8/18 vs Scott County
After a month of intensive 7 am practices, KCD's Girls Soccer team officially began their fall season this Monday. Playing two close scrimmages last week, the players were prepared to enter the season as they transition under the leadership of new coaches and welcome many new players. First year players include Casey Bariteau, Raegan Osborn, Covington Paulsen, Samantha Waite, Kate Zoppoth, Lindsay Porter, Cali Klink, Andrea Wambaugh, and Yesenia Jetter. Ms. Shartzer, the new head coach, has extensively worked on strengthening the team in both the realms of conditioning and ball skills. Though only in their third season ever, the team has made great strides since the end of last year and are ready to play a tough schedule. Though suffering a loss to Scott County on Monday, the team continues to practice with dedication and excitement for the many games ahead. The girls face CAL in their next game Tuesday, August 26th.
