PE department presents presidential fitness awards
Students in middle and lower school physical education classes recently completed the President’s Challenge Physical Fitness Test for the 2007–2008 school year. This fitness test uses national standards to recognize students and gauge their overall fitness levels in five different areas.

The P.E. program focuses on each of the areas tested during the beginning half of each class period. Students participate in a standard workout routine in the gymnastics room as well as in cardiovascular endurance training. The results from the test allow teachers to identify each student’s training needs and focus additional attention on those areas as part of their P.E. classes.

In award ceremonies on Wednesday, May 28, the P.E. department recognized those students who earned the Presidential, National, and Participant Physical Fitness Awards in the 2007–2008 school year.

In the Middle School, 275 students completed the test. Sixty-one percent of these students performed at or above the national recognition level. Thirteen percent received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

In the Lower School, 256 students completed the test. Sixty-five percent of these students performed at or above the national recognition level. Ten percent received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

This document lists the students (below) who were recognized for achieving the highest level of physical fitness, The Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

Following the program, parents were invited to join their children in the classroom to see the dinosaur reports and dioramas students have created over the last few weeks. The first grade will conclude their study of dinosaurs with a trip to the Indianapolis Children's Museum on Tuesday.

Exploremore lassoes up some fun in the Lower School
Exploremore started with a big "yee haw!" as students got ready to round up a full day of western-themed activities, crafts, and games.

Exploremore is organized and run entirely by parent volunteers. Thanks to the more than 150 parents who donated their time and materials for today's sessions. A special thanks goes to this year's co-chairs Kimberly Jackson and Cindy McCarthy.

Following a morning assembly in the Gardner Gym (ask Mr. Robertson about his turn riding the mechanical bull), students rotated through sessions such as Dad's Construction Crew, Water Slide, Pony Express, Cookie Call, Pottery Painting by Hadley Pottery, Wacky Science, and many more.

Exploremore is funded by proceeds from the Lower School Social as well as the sale of t-shirts, sack packs, and lunches—thanks to all those whose purchases helped support today's event. We would also like to recognize the following sponsors, who helped support Exploremore with their contributions:
