KCDate combines friends and fund-raising at Churchill Downs
Snow couldn’t stop KCDate and neither could the NCAA Elite 8! In fact, the U of L/North Carolina basketball game added a little spice to the event. We just won’t mention the outcome.

We are very pleased to announce that KCDate 2008 generated a net income of more than $100,000, which will be used to support programming and strategic initiatives at KCD.

When guests arrived on March 29, they were excited about the long-anticipated event, and it showed! Everyone had a great time mingling with friends as they browsed through the silent auction tables overlooking the famous Churchill Downs track.

The Live Auction kicked off with a bugler playing the Call to Post and a performance by the barbershop quartet Pay it Forward. All eyes were on our talented “celebrity presenters” as they modeled the auction items. Thanks to Jerry Loewen, Chris Robertson, and Donna Tatum-Johns, who performed wonderfully.

Raffle winners were announced throughout the Live Auction. Marlene Accardo won the 50-inch flat screen plasma TV, and Susan Hunt walked away the big winner with $10,000 cash!

KCDate co-chairs Marlene Accardo and Candy Dwyer worked tirelessly on this event—their leadership and creativity helped KCDate 2008 be a night we will never forget. A special thanks also goes to Kimberly Offutt, whose commitment to this event and attention to detail ensured that everything was well organized and running smoothly.

The rest of the committee was also extremely committed this year. Thanks are due to them as well as to the many parent and faculty volunteers who moved items, set up, and did the hundreds of other tasks required to make a big event run smoothly.
