Now is the Time to Invest in Our Future

Our reputation for excellence continues to expand locally and regionally. KCD’s campus is flourishing with record-high enrollments. The KCD family of students, parents, teachers, administrators, and alumni has always had the highest of ambitions for the future of our school. Now it is time that our facilities match these ambitions for excellence.

A Place to Perform

Currently, none of the divisions—lower, middle, or upper—can properly convene in a single space, which limits our ability to realize our commitment to community. Assemblies and parent programs are currently held in the cafeteria or gym—a setting that does not match the quality of the nationally known speakers who have visited our campus.

Theatrical productions are currently performed in the cafeteria, which does not meet the standards of excellence to which we aspire and limits our students’ abilities to excel. Poor acoustics make the space inadequate for choral and instrumental music performances.

A Place to Create

New classrooms will enable us to maintain our small class sizes, which we believe to be a very important component of the KCD learning experience. The addition of up to seven new classrooms with seating for 126 students will enhance educational programming for our growing school.

New and remodeled classrooms, including a ceramics studio, will allow us to teach in appropriate venues, offer additional electives, and alleviate the crowding caused by our current growth.

A Place to Energize

With our continuing growth in enrollment, the dining experience has become more complicated, more cramped, and less enjoyable for everyone despite the vast improvements in offerings.

The construction of the new assembly hall /theater will enable us to remove the stage from the dining hall and complete the much-needed expansion of our dining facilities with additional seating for 110 students per shift.

A Place for Visitors

Additions and improvements to the campus road system and parking will allow for better traffic flow to accommodate current families and more visitors to KCD. Our increased enrollment has added well over 100 new families that now must be accommodated for carpool, special events and school meetings. Dramatic increases in athletic participation have also created greater demand for parking and improved traffic flow.

A Place to Start

The financial health of KCD has never been stronger, but the demands of a growing, vibrant independent school require that our endowment keep pace with that growth if we are to ensure our long-term success. More specifically, a larger endowment will allow us to:

  • Recruit, retain, and cultivate great teachers by increasing funds allocated to teaching resources and overall compensation;
  • Invest in programs that enhance our ability to provide teachers with the necessary resources for professional development, promote diversity, and assist in keeping a KCD education affordable;
