From our beginning as Kentucky Military Institute in 1845, from which much of today’s honor code was derived, the KCD educational experience has been built upon a foundation of excellence. Today, our school is vibrant and thriving. Simply witness the full athletic fields, the busy parking lots, the outstanding quality of the faculty and the accolades the students continue to receive for their success in drama, debate, mathematics, the sciences, languages and community service.

We find ourselves at an important juncture in KCD’s rich history. Since building the new upper school nearly ten years ago, the student body at KCD has increased by 174 children, placing a strain on the school’s facilities and roadways. We have already invested $3.5 million over the past three years in technology, academic excellence, athletics and facilities renovation. Now is the time to challenge ourselves to match our facilities with our growth and educational vision.

This campaign will provide a much-needed assembly and performing arts space, expansion and renovation of the dining hall, classroom additions, roadway improvements and valuable support for the endowment. These are smart moves and will enable the region’s premier independent school to be recognized among the nation’s elite.
